Plastic Stage’s UK based website is now being constructed in earnest and I thought it was high time to commence blogging. In the coming days and weeks I will be filling the main site and the Myspace site with information on practitioners (by that I mean directors, actors, writers and companies) that share a passion or have shown an interest in theatre art that aims to transform in some way. The most notable of these, and indeed those which I have studied the most are Antonin Artaud and Augusto Boal. Although linked by the aim of a transformative theatre, their thinking behind this is quite different with Boal seeking to ’rehearse’ political change and Artaud seeking a spiritual change yet still rooted in the body. I also hope to include various articles which are relevant to this issue, along with detailing possible directions for future research!
